From Merry Wind Farm, this sampler was originally stitched by Agnes herself. After her death at age 18, one of her sisters turned it into a memorial, adding "died in her 19 yer" and surrounding the sampler with black silk. This is the first sampler I have ever seen that was stitched and then later turned into a memorial after her death. Shown stitched on 32ct Beige linen using a combination of DMC and Gentle Art Sampler Threads with a stitch count of 187 x 223. From Merry Wind Farm, Eliza's sampler has been painstakingly reproduced using the original vibrant colors visible on the reverse of the sampler. The lovely verse was penned by John Fawcett, an 18th century Yorkshire minister. The stitch count is a manageable 227 (w) x 303 (h) and is charted for 19 colors of DMC floss on 32 count Putty linen from Weeks Dye Works.
