Peacocks in the Garden |
|
From With My Needle, sampler is an
adaptation of an undated and unsigned antique
in
my collection. Minor changes were made to a few

colors were also changed. However, the spirit
of
this lovely sampler remains the same as the
antique. Shown stitched on 36ct American
Chestnut
linen using Needlepoint Silk but with DMC
substitutions provided. This sampler can also
be
stitched on Aida. The stitch count is 315 wide
x
313 high.
Stitches Used: backstitch, cross stitch, and
two
variations of the herringbone stitch.

if
desired, you can omit them. Also, you can
substitute cross stitch or another stitch of
your
choice for the herringbone stitches, so the
entire sampler can be done only in cross stitch
if you choose.

With A Pleasant Thought |
|
From With My Needle, the inspiration for this original sampler was the lovely verse first seen on Alice Parr’s sampler. (Alice used the long s, which looks like the modern day f when stitching her sampler. Today, many people find it difficult to read text written with the long s, so this has also been charted with more familiar letters for those who would like to use them instead.)
Stitched on 32ct Light Mocha linen with a stitch count of 215 x 119 using Simply Wool threads from The Gentle Art (DMC substitutions are provided).
