CAMP STITCHALOT CLASS INFO:

Camp Stitchalot is nearly upon us and I look forward to seeing all of you and having fun stitching and learning with you!  However, I do have some extremely SAD news to impart.

Betsy Stinner of Earth Threads will NOT be coming to, nor teaching at Camp this year.

As most of you know, it's been quite a few years since Betsy was diagnosed with Cancer. When 'IT' was first detected, she was already at Stage 4 with lymphoma, and was given less than a 30% chance of survival. And, she beat 'IT'!! The doctors were totally amazed! But, Betsy and I both know it was due to your (and those of others) prayers and thoughts (and the restorative waters of Camp Stitchalot).
However ... while each 6-month checkup has shown her to be totally cancer free, she called me on Tuesday January 30th with the news that the Cancer has returned ... and is everywhere in her body once again. She will be starting on a very aggressive form of chemotherapy that also includes the harvesting and re-transplanting of her stem cells, and the doctor has forbidden her to travel. This time she has a 60% chance and we know she'll beat "IT" again!!!

I HAVE been able to arrange to have another designer come in to teach at both Camp 1 and Camp 2 in Betsy's stead.  At such incredibly short notice, Ruth Sparrow-Gendron of Twisted Threads, has generously agreed to be here with us!!

NEW CLASS INFO & SCHEDULING

RUTH SPARROW-GENDRON  -  TWISTED THREADS

The stitches to be taught are: Basic Hemstitch, Hemstitch with Herringbone, Italian Hemstitch, Interlacing Cutwork with Beads, Pulled Work, Double Leviathan, Rice Stitch & Rhodes Stitch. Ruth will be introducting you to 'stitching over one thread" with this cute design that also employs several specialty stitches. This class will provide extensive direction for stitching over one linen thread, as well as the following stitches: 4-Sided, Smyrna, Long Arm Cross, Checker Stitch & Colonial Knots. Your kit will include: 32ct Dirty Linen, Sampler Threads. Chart with 4 color picture, needle, and stitch diagrams. If you've been wanting to learn the CORRECT WAY to stitch one over one, you'll want to take this class! Ruth has taught her version of this technique at Camp Stitchalot in the past and this has been a tremendously well received class!

To be taught on Saturday afternoon
Class fee: $55.00

(3) "How To Frame

Learn how to properly frame your needlework project with Ruth by using the Pinning method of mounting your needlework. This is a demonstration class! Learn to center your piece, basting for precise fit, measuring and cutting foam core mounting board.

To be taught on Saturday evening

Class Fee: $20.00

I know you will be terribly disappointed that Betsy's classes have been canceled .. I truly am for your sakes as well (plus devastated to hear my good friends' terrible news). But I also know that you do understand the circumstances, and will appreciate what has been put together for you at such short notice so we could continue to be able to offer you the class choices you are expecting this year. And, I am so excited to have Ruth again!!

CHARLOTTE DUDNEY - FROM THE PEP'R POT

(1) FINISHING TECHNIQUES 101

Bring a finished punchneedle project (or small cross stitch project) and learn the different ways to finish it.

You'll begin with "Blocking" your design, then learn the different techniques such as: "Whip-stitched" edge,  Appliqué,  gift boxes, ornaments, framing with a pre-set opening, wool frames, and more.  All finishing ideas are conservation quality finishing ... no glue. Receive a document detailing the finishing ideas with color pictures, samples of the types of material

recommended, wooden legs, dowels, interfacing, pellon fleece, finishing thread, embroidery needles, etc, ... all organized in a sewing bag.

(2) Russian Needle Punch (or Punchneedle)

This technique resembles primitive rug-hooking in miniature; has endless possibilities and is fun with quick results - complete a needle project in days instead of weeks or months.

You will receive a PIN project with Weeks Dye Works Floss AND the exclusive pattern featured above that has been created Just For Us (as based on my shop logo) by Charlotte!!

Teaching needles will be provided for your use during the class.

If you already have a needle (of any kind), bring that needle to class, and Charlotte will teach you how to use that type needle.
