Hi Fellow Stitchers! This is perhaps the hardest newsletter I've ever attempted to write. It involves CHANGE and although change is the only thing that is a constant in our world, it's still a word most of us absolutely dread. The combination of Michigan's failing economy as well as continuing problems with my landlady and lease have unfortunately worked together to cause this change. And I can no longer ignore this or try to work around it. Don't worry ... I am NOT closing, but rather .. will be going through a construction phase. Stitches N Things will be MOVING ... effective the 1st of May ... to Fenton, Michigan. You know that construction zones mean "detours" ... and that detours may take you out of your way, cost you extra time to get where you're going, slow down your progress, but eventually, that detour will get you exactly to the destination you wanted to reach. That is how I have to look at this ... I am only taking a 'detour' through a construction zone ... and eventually will be where I want to be. This means that for the time being, while re-construction is underway, I will no longer be in the location I've been for the past 14 years and 11 months, but will be in a 'much smaller space' as well as in a different town. Because of this, SNT will be primarily an "Ordering" Shop. You will still be able to contact us by phone, fax, e-mail, via our secure catalog site. For those of you who wish to see items in person, my new location will have some inventory in stock, but it will be way drastically reduced from what you have been used to. The staff of SNT will be reduced as well - everything right now means cutting back. This decision to downsize has been made so that I would still to be able to continue to offer you the standard and quality of service with that personal touch you've come to expect from Stitches N Things. I will also continue to offer our custom needlework framing services to you as well as stitching advice/help. For those of you currently enrolled in my Clubs, on my automatic ship programs, or those wanting to be notified when specific designers or designs come into the shop, nothing will change. The clubs will continue, your automatics will continue to arrive at your door and we will still be calling or e-mailing you. We still have our auto shipments coming into the shop, we will still be re-ordering what we've run out off, we will still be meeting your stitching needs! I have A Stitchalot Weekend scheduled for October 5 - 7th at the Comfort Inn in Davison, and of course,Camp Stitchalot will STILL continue ... in fact, it's booked right now for Feb. 29 - Mar. 2, and again on Mar. 14 - 16, 2008. The logistics of these will be something for me to work on, but .. there will be a 'store' for you to shop at .. it just may be located in a special room at the hotel instead. I wish I could tell you that this was an April Fools joke, but it's not ... . I don't think I've fully grasped that I will no longer be able to gaze about my shop- as it is now - during the work day. For those of you who are 'walk in customers', knowing that you will no longer have the shop be the 'destination' location that it was is nearly more than I can stand. I don't know how I will be able to greet each day with the same smile without seeing your faces! However, the decision that has been forced upon me to make has been made, and I will make the best of it as I know you will. Remember, this is just a 'detour'.
Here's your notification about 'some' of the newest cross-stitch designs that have arrived very very recently at Hoffman Distributing (and our shop):

For those of you who have come to enjoy the special style that HOG RIVER FRAMES gave to your finished needlework, I had sad news. Colleen said that if her husband got to retire, she would get to retire too. And Hog River frames - other than what we still have left in stock - are no longer available. The following is from her web site:

This week, a friend sent the following Hallmark card to me ... she had no idea of what was happening in my life but it would appear that the gears in the universe had all clicked into place, as the verse she'd sent was absolutely perfect: Let me change what I can. Let me accept that which I cannot change. Let me ignore that which I cannot change or accept. Let me run away from that which I cannot change, accept, or ignore. Let me lock myself in the bathroom, hold my hands over my ears, and hum about that which I cannot change, accept, ignore, or run away from. Let me ...... Since the first three months of the year seem to be my busiest, I've been saying that "my next day off" would be in April. April now means:
And .. the end of May will find me going to the Summer Market Trade Show in Columbus, Ohio! So, until next weekend and your next update, I get to take some extra vitamins while you get to .....
